The Fragrance of Easter Orchids

Toutouwai, South Island Robin
Eyes closed, sitting quietly, trying to capture the fragrance of Easter Orchids, those wafts of sweet scent that stir on the cool breeze, when the slender trunks of kānuka trees sway in the forest.
Eyes suddenly open, I realise I’m being observed by two toutouwai, (robins).
With their watchful gaze and presence, they have arrived out of nowhere to witness my stillness.
