"I arrived at Wainui earlier in the day, eager to explore some fresh angles of Akaroa, which lies on the opposite side of the harbour. The clouds & heavy mist had begun to clear as I reached the wharf & to my delight, these seagulls were waiting for the fishing boat to return - with their free scraps for lunch! It reminded me of "Bonjour Akaroa" which I captured on the opposite side of the harbour years earlier & I felt this could make a great scene. So I started to capture multiple sets of photographs, stirring the seagulls each time to launch them into flight (anybody watching must have wondered what on earth I was up to!) But I persevered until I was confident I had the right set of images, which I later assembled to create this wide panorama." - Peter Latham
