Sara Langdon

Sara Langdon

Sara Langdon is a contemporary New Zealand artist who draws inspiration from the beauty of familiar and distinct volcanic landmarks around Auckland city, where she also resides.

Trained in photography and practicing professionally in this media for a time, Sara’s painting practice is informed by her photographer-trained eye. She carefully selects compositions and viewpoints, working with the light as it dances across the terraces and craters. Sara describes her painting practice as a fresh take on landscape realism and is primarily interested in capturing and highlighting the detail of each mountain. Her work is not just a replication of the landscape but a response to the beauty she sees.

“I am drawn to the constantly changing appearance of the slopes and trees as the light alters with the time of day and the season.” – Sara Langdon

Sara works primarily in acrylic on board, canvas and paper. She has completed a number of large landscape commissions and her work hangs in private collections in New Zealand and overseas.
