Rebecca Low

Rebecca Low

Rebecca Low is a Christchurch‑based photographer whose practice explores abstract and experimental approaches to landscape and place. Her work emerges from a lifelong fascination with photography and is informed by her academic background, including a Bachelor of Design (Photography) and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, which together shape her engagement with land, history and cultural context.

Rebecca combines digital, analogue and alternative photographic processes to create highly individual images that reflect both the visible and hidden narratives of place. Much of her recent work focuses on the landscapes of Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū / Banks Peninsula, presenting alternative representations of familiar environments in ways that invite new understanding and connection. Her practice is guided by the unique natural and cultural histories of each site, and often explores the idea of landscape as a palimpsest - a surface written and rewritten by natural forces and human use over time.

Rebecca’s work has been recognised in the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography Iris Awards.
