"The seals are made from local clays, fired to 900...1000c, in a gas and woodfired kiln of my own design. Removed at that temperature with a pair of long handled tongs, and placed in native sawdust, after cooling they are cleaned, waxed and polished.
The inspiration comes from 54 years of surfing with these lovely creatures on the Southland and Otago coasts.
Each one is an individual"
