Pearce Malcolm is an emerging artist based in Christchurch. Working predominantly in steel, with bronze embellishments, Pearce’s works are meticulously formed via a combination of artistic vision and precision engineering, with inspiration found primarily in nature; wildlife and natural habitats.
“I have always appreciated art and in particular sculptures due to their multi-dimensional presence. The materials of choice come from my professional experience, coupled with a fascination with metals and castings. Although my sculptures are in themselves static, the illusive nature of the design creates a sense of movement or change.”
“In terms of my creative process, I use a mixture of technologies such as 3D scanning and various computer-aided design (CAD) software packages to manipulate forms. Once the model and subsequent engineering drawings and files are created, they are used to create the castings and metal cuts. Finally, I bring it all together for welding, polishing, assembling, and adding the finishing touches.” – Pearce Malcolm
