Matthew Williams’s passion for architecture and design is highly evident in his work. Exploring form in its fundamentality, he works with a range of natural and manmade materials, including bronze, steel, and granite. His aesthetic of strong lines and sweeping curves seeks to evoke movement and dynamism.

Matthew started woodturning when he was just sixteen years old and within a year had produced his own brand of woodcraft. After working as a model maker in London for several years, he was offered a position in Dubai. Notably, his work was there acquired by the crown prince of Dubai. Matthew relocated to New Zealand in 2008 and has since been reestablishing and developing his artistic practice. Having exhibited at galleries and sculptural events throughout New Zealand, Matthew has also sold pieces to The Kauri Museum in Northland, and has work in private collections in Dubai, UK, Canada, and New Zealand.
