Lisa Grennell graduated with a bachelor’s degree in visual arts and design in 2010. Since then, she has exhibited, curated, and tutored throughout the Nelson Bays region and has won several local art awards.
Lisa specialises in silkscreen printing and reverse hand painting on perspex. A challenging and intricate process, Lisa works ‘backwards’ by printing and painting on the underside of her transparent canvas. The hand painted elements are comprised of numerous, carefully considered layers which then form compelling and dimensional imagery when viewed from the front.
Lisa says, “I’ve sketched for as long as I can remember. I find it a nice break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I was introduced to screen printing in art school and use this process in my art practice, as well as teaching printing techniques from my home studio. Screen printing has become a tool for me to push my work further and extend beyond the confinements of drawing.”
Lisa’s unique and whimsical works have provoked much response and as a result, have sold to many national and international collections.
