Born in England, Kathryn emigrated to New Zealand at a young age. Early influences from her artistic father encouraged her to explore her natural creative abilities in many mediums. Kathryn currently resides in Nelson with her husband, where they raised their two sons, working from her home studio in an historic house overlooking the Port Nelson waterfront.
A self-taught artist, Kathryn draws her inspiration from pacific landscapes and
NZ’s native flora and fauna. Painting in both acrylic and ink, her style
involves the building up of many textured layers. Beginning with loose abstract
washes, her final brush strokes are more controlled and detailed.
