New Zealand botanist Hugh Wilson’s beautiful book ‘Hinewai Reflections’ is now available in the gallery and online. A local legend, Hugh has been kaitiaki of Hinewai Reserve on Banks Peninsula since 1987, leading the natural regeneration of former farmland into thriving native forest.Known for sharing his knowledge through talks, writing, and illustrations, Hugh has more recently drawn simply for pleasure. Encouraged by friends, he gathered these “doodlings” into ‘Hinewai Reflections’. Through its pages, Hugh invites readers to wander alongside him, learning about nature or simply enjoying his artwork and words at their own pace.
