Ashley Smith is a multidisciplinary artist whose oeuvre has been shaped by a raft of artistic experience; from work with ad agencies and publishers, to cartooning and illustration, a stint in film and tv, a deep dive into painting and more recently, bronze casting.

Ashley gained artistic recognition in the early 80’s for ‘Man of Mite’ his satirical depiction of the then Prime Minister ‘grooming himself with Marmite. This work so incensed a viewer that he snatched it from the gallery window, broke it over his knee and caused a court case! Subsequent ongoing illustration work around politics and satire ensued from here, and still endures as subject matter in Ashley’s paintings to date.
