Anna Gedson is an Opotiki-based (Bay of Plenty) artist, who works from her home studio. Deeply inspired by her Māori heritage, Anna enjoys the process of working with her hands & creating artworks that will be enjoyed by others. She endeavours to give each of her sculptural works a unique & contemporary appearance.
Growing up, Anna always had a love for being creative & at a young age often spent time creating & designing. Nurturing her artistic passions, she went on to complete a Diploma in Textile Design in Wellington. Anna enjoys working with a combination of materials (flax, feathers & metal) to achieve her visual sculptures.
Anna's sculptural works are a nod to her Māori culture & are presented as a precious taonga (treasure) to be kept for many years.
